Pictures from Rosenblatt Stadium!

On August 28, 2003 the 5th and 6th grade traveling baseball team, "SMOKING KILLS", from Montgomery County Family YMCA in Red Oak, Iowa, was featured as the Field of Dreams Team at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. Along with the fifteen team members and two coaches were about thirty Red Oak fans. It was a beautiful night for baseball and the fireworks that followed the game. When the Royals players were introduced, the SMOKING KILLS team members ran to the position they had played and remained on the field for the playing of the National Anthem. Between the fifth and sixth innings, SMOKING KILLS TEAM was scrolled across the Rosenblatt scoreboard. One of the fans was able to get this great picture as it appeared on the scoreboard.

One of the team members received a $25.00 gift certificate from Dick's Sporting Goods by throwing a ball through a hole in a banner held several feet away, with the first throw of three chances. Three other players got to play the dizzy bat event. They were placed about thirty feet from the bats and they had to run up and place their foreheads on the bats and turn themselves around until they were dizzy and then they raced back to the starting line.

The team was sponsored by the newly organized Iowa non-profit "SMOKING KILLS" Education Awareness, Inc.
